Club Fit for Business
Global Arts & Culture Ambassador
Global Arts & Culture Ambassador
It’s a great honour to be the Arts & Culture Ambassador for Club Fit for Business and enjoy writing for their blog a couple of times a month as well as showcasing some select Dollarsandart works at members events throughout the year.
Art is all well and good but without a backbone of a structured business plan and a solid legal base to operate from it’s doomed to fail! With the majority of dollarsandart collaborations stemming from the sporting and business world what better than Club fit for business to give commercial sport-loving artists a healthy platform and network.
Their founder, Monaco based Liam Mooney is a valued patron of dollarsandart and is a great mentor with grounded advice exactly when it is needed.
Arts & Culture Ambassador : As Art meets business and sport
It’s important during our busy schedules to take time out, take a step back and appreciate the finer things in life. That book you keep meaning to read, the art gallery you keep meaning to visit, that course you keep meaning to sign up for and that motivational you tube clip you missed – even better, simply just being, rather than just doing.
That’s easier said than done during such busy, information overloaded times coming at us from all angles.
The Arts have a complex relationship with society, like many of us do with people close to us – rarely straight forward, is it? My aim therefore, is to simplify Art & Culture sharing snippets of wisdom, timeless philosophy in various forms and dollops of food for thought as I go.
I’ll continue to share key points about how money effects people along with any collaborations and commissions of note. I enjoy Sharing my first hand experiences as an artist & writer aiming to engage and inspire along the way to make Art & Culture more accessible & make you think as your dance of life continues, no doubt unfolding as it should, right?
‘If you hear a voice within you say ‘you cannot paint’ then by all means paint, and that voice will be silenced’ – Vincent Van Gogh
An award winning global sports business community, connecting people and companies who have a passion for sport, as well as promoting business & the wider message of sport and its values.
Their vision is for a better working world adopting positive social change in attitudes towards business. For example, they help athletes that have transitioned or are in the process of transitioning from a career in sport into business with our Life After Sport programme. A number of these athletes have huge entrepreneurial talent but need support and guidance. We also believe that sport should be accessible to all children and businesses should be investing more into providing accessible sport to children, these are the leaders and workforce of the future.
Playing sports early in life can give young people important values and life skills for the future. The Club Fit For Business Sport in the Community programme will create more opportunities for young people to participate in sport, particularly those from disadvantaged backgrounds.
Through their talks, events, workshops, website and social media they mix sport, business and social networking. Not only do these promote interaction between the members of the business community, they also provide a platform to improve and enhance business and connections. They fundamentally believe that people do business with people they like, trust and who they share a common interest with and sport has a way of connecting with people and is a great way of bringing communities together.
Their motto is ‘consilio et animis’ meaning ‘Courage and Wisdom’ and they have no shortage of that, but there’s always room for new blood and more wisdom, wherever you are based in the world. They have solid corporate support from a diverse range of industries such as banking, media, food, publishing and fashion as well as individual members representing small and medium enterprises, we are now increasingly looking at effective ways to grow their community.
They have already achieved considerable success, winning several business awards and being nominated for others. They now run events in Dubai and London. Others venues are planned in the near future including Monaco, Cardiff, Bristol and Paris.
Fit for business highlights
Since their inception, they have been lucky enough to have some prominent people from the sports world speak to our community including BBC Sports Personality of the Year winner and Champion Jockey AP McCoy OBE, South African rugby legend Bob Skinstad, charismatic English cricketer Kevin Pietersen for the launch of his foundation :-
They’ve also had some great talks from CEOs and business leaders in the community including Colm McLoughlin, Executive Chairman of Dubai Duty Free and Fadi Malas, Arab Entrepreneur of the Year in 2012 and 2013. Their events are truly inspirational and have some great names from the world of sport and business lined up for the future.
It’s not all about events and social media plays a major part of what they do. With over 20,000 subscribers and a large following on social media I enjoy supporting them, promote their message and keeping up with our latest news as well as connect with other members of the sports business community, wherever they are in the world.
They’re always looking for volunteers and supporters, who will help support us and promote their message.
Club Fit For Business is a non-profit group and works with a number of charities and not for profit organisations who share similar values. We are very grateful for the support of Blue Pencil in providing a wonderful platform to promote sport and its message for positive change.
In March 2014, Fit for Business invited me to showcase a couple of Dollarsandart originals in the presence of horse racing legend, A.P McCoy on the eve of the Dubai World Cup, the world’s most expensive horse race. It was a real honour and he obliged by signing dollars and dirhams that featured in the 3rd Dubai $ Project Heroes & Villains, DIFC 12 months later.
After the show it was curated at The Meydan Hotel, home of the worlds richest horse race, the Dubai World Cup.
Fit for Business news will be featured from time to time on the Dollarsandart blog along with sport an business commissions and social events and I’d highly recommend you get involved, wherever you are in the world!
