'Me' to 'We' Part 1 of 3

It's great to share a few back to basics tips here having slowed down and well, got back to basics!

It's a jungle out there....

PUuuurrrfect from British street artist Jamie Scanlon (aka JPS) - loving this!

It's time to hit dollarsandart Pinterest and post memes that may or may not have been said by anyone...

Whatever rocks your boat it's confession time  as time is conspiring against me this is a cut and paste from my linked in article  - it looks like formatting is an issue or maybe an Art form? In any case please forgive me, let's work with what we've got and read on*

*Art caption contest further in the article!

Where the Mary Poppins did the last week go?

It's flown by, so as we are on the clock, without further ado here's my 203rd weekly-ish linked in article, entitled 'ME' to 'WE' Part 1 of 3 : sharing how I created a bit of headspace during busy times.

It's easier said than done, taking a step back, but when I did I was in a position to take on board feedback from others and to actually listen rather than diving in with both feet full of enthusiasm.

Once space was created over an 8 week period, the valuable feedback received was during the Lewis Hamilton Table-top Art commission ('ME' to 'WE' Part 2 of 3 next week) :and a lightbulb moment at HMP Berwyn, ('ME' to 'WE' Part 3 of 3 the week after) both nudges towards working with others more, aside from my own body of work.

Hands up - I was going to pack all this into one article but given as this is all about 'less is more' and 'simplifying things' I'll break it down into 3, starting with this weeks scribe of sharing a few tips on 'Stepping back' rather than trying to rush and crowbar it all in. If nothing else it's testament to what I've learnt over the last couple of months so I'm applying it in my writing aswell.

PART 1 of From 'ME' to 'WE' : STEPPING BACK

We are busier than we've ever been - most of us, with or without families, children, pets, cars, social media accounts, bosses, colleagues, family, friends (real and facebook) and well, just life!

No alt text provided for this image

We're in a world full of motivational memes - alot of them are easier said than done (turns the volume down on the Rocky music) - I'd argue the point above though, when navel gazing there's no perfect time, perfect setting and a perfect you - it is the concerted effort to put time aside / put the breaks on and at the very least, slow down! Surely we need to start in the environment we are in right now?

Anyone can do the above at a Thai yoga retreat.....

No alt text provided for this image

but in your 'right here / right now' environment is the keep it real approach to creating space for yourself. No matter how 'busy' there's always time for self-care, regular breaks for sustenance or a stretch before cracking on....

Sorry, trapped in 1984....

I've passed on the virtual brainwashing of gaming but can relate to that in terms of social media as Insta, Pinterest, Facebook, Linked in, blogging and tweet-tweeting have their place within a schedule.

Changes I've made to clear the decks

It's largely been about creating space by not planning and filling gaps of time with 'stuff'....

So with all this in place, striving for more balance I was in a fine place to not only deliver the Lewis Hamilton commission but allowing the clients feedback, with fun twists and turns along the way to create something I hadn't thought of! I'll be sharing that in next weeks article, from 'Me to We : Part 2 of 3' so in the meantime keep well, be gentle with yourself an don't believe everything in your newsfeed....

We're all the same yet different : shaped by the sands of time

I ♥️ serving and connecting 👥 through media, commissions, collaborations and creative initiatives. I founded Dollarsandart after an exceptionally challenging time, as an outlet to create, share and sell 🎨 that tells a story.

With Damian / Spiderman the big hearted Sri Lankan security guard

As I was lost and as a subconcious cry for help, I dug deeper exploring 💰, people and creativity further I began to express myself, experiences, struggles and successes through 🎨. The universal symbol of the $ seemed to impact and influence so many decisions, providing the motivation for and the limitation of many of our decisions in life. I decided that the dollar for all its pro’s and con’s along with grains of sand in nature and in industry would be a central feature of my work as Dollarsandart was born.
